The daughter of white-Jamaican and white-Kenyan parents, Jo was
brought up in the highlands of Scotland. She did a viola performance
degree (Hons) at Birmingham Conservatoire after which she started
writing and performing her own material. Joe
Broughton introduced Jo to Ashley and she did several sessions on
viola and toured with the Albion Band as lead singer in Italy.
Established in Birmingham for her song-writing, entrancing
performances, and vocal ability, Jo has played with Damien Rice,
Carina Round, Michelle Shocked, Boo Hewerdine, Glen Tilbrook, Black,
The Blockheads…and others.
Jo composes using Logic Audio and her new album “Gown” will be out in
April 2007. So far it has been likened to Kate Bush and Enrico
Morricone. Keep an eye out at
www.johamilton.com for the release and gigs in 2007. Her
favourite thing at the moment is Imogen Heap.
